Stephen Brathwaite:
Puppeteer and glass artist Stephen’s formal training is in studio art and cultural planning. In 1993 Greg Smith and Stephen bought and restored the Victoria Woollen Mill which led to other people becoming involved to initiate other projects. As the link between the different partnerships Stephen plays a day to day management role. His millrace studio is located on the water in Thoburn Mill.

Peter Egan: 65 Mill Street
Technology executive and long time local resident Peter Egan is now president of S4Potential a multimedia psychology based interactive software producer. S4 has been grown locally and employs arts and technology professionals. Peter’s company is part of the burgeoning technology business community in Almonte many of which are housed in our restored heritage buildings. S4 Potential resides in a main street commercial heritage property that peter restored in 2002.

Vicki Haydon: 118 Water Street
Vicki Haydon has a background in community, economic and business development. A significant amount of her experience is in the local government environment including several years with the Town of Mississippi Mills as their Economic Development Officer. She has 15 years of experience in research and writing and continues to work with various public sector organizations.

Johannes Hill: Thoburn Mill, 78 Mill Street, Peterson’s
Trained as a geologist Joh Hill moved into the technology community and with partners developed Northwood Technologies Inc. a wireless OSS software company. Since it’s acquisition by Marconi Joh has been developing Guardian Mobility making GPS based monitoring products. An Ottawa resident, Joh became familiar with opportunities in Almonte through his association with the networking group the T.E.A. Party (Technology Executives in Almonte)

Inez Kettles: Thoburn Mill, 78 Mill Street
Another geologist Inez’s career has been largely with the geological survey of Canada. She continues to work on contracts for the survey while commuting to Almonte 2 days a week to property manage Thoburn Mill and her other interests.

Marc Lefebvre: 65 Mill Street
A background in economics Marc is owner of V&S Options. Mark has grown the business that his father began as a branch of Stedman’s to become an anchor retailer on Almonte’s main street. His commitment to the downtown core is further reflected in his decision to join the development of the first major residential and commercial condominium and the restoration of the most ornate heritage façades on the street.

Jeff Mills: Peterson’s
Born and raised in Almonte, Jeff studied art photography at the Ontario College of Art. He chose to return to the area to make his home raise his family. He has been a significant force in a wide variety of community initiatives in the arts, recreation and heritage. He currently works for “The Mills” a social service organization in Mississippi Mills.

John Pattison: Old Post Office, Baker’s Quarry
Puppeteer, writer, television producer, John is the creative force behind “Puppets who Kill” on the Comedy Network. A Toronto resident John takes pride in having helped restore a national historic site and recognizes Almonte’s potential for growth.

Greg Smith: Victoria Woollen Mill
Greg is a senior partner with Consilium, a consulting firm specializing in economic and community development planning. Greg and his wife Marianne first became involved in Almonte heritage redevelopment when they bought and restored the Naismith house, residence of James Naismith the inventor of basketball.

Lorraine and Dick Veenstra: Old Post Office
Southern Ontario residents Lorraine and Dick, through visiting family gained an appreciation of Almonte and chose to invest in the downtown core. More recently, Dick wrapped up a career with PetroCanada Refinery as a process supervisor. He and Lorraine retired here and built their new home in Baker’s Quarry.

Vicki Veenstra: Thoburn Mill, 78 Mill Sreet
Working in art and design for film, television and theatre, Vicki has made the Almonte area her home since 1998. Trained in interior design and fine art the processes of heritage restoration and contemporary architecture hold particular interest.
